Contact Great British Speakers  today to book Romanian-born British actress Ionica Adriana for your next event. In the years before Ionica Adriana was born, the Romanian Communist dictator enforced strict rules regarding the country’s population. This resulted in widespread poverty, which meant parents were either too malnourished to support their children or couldn’t afford to. Many were brought up by unclean state-run institutions. In a Romanian orphanage, Ionica spent the first two and a half years of her life before being adopted and moving to England. Ionica has always been honest about her adoption, saying that “my adoption has never been a secret, my parents have always been very transparent about it”, and it is this honesty that she brings to her presenting and speaking engagements. Ionica Adriana Stage Career Ionica trained for two years at the East 15 Acting School in performing arts and stage combat. Her flourishing career has won her high recognition and several awards. In 2018, she was awarded the Best Emerging Actress gong at the International Achievement Recognition Awards for her role as the Genie in the stage version of Aladdin . She was also nominated for the Best Female Solo Artist and NEA Choice Award at the National Entertainment Awards. Other stage roles include  Opening Up  at the Union Theatre,  Aladdin  – this time as Jasmine – at the Billingham Forum,  Sleeping Beauty  in Torquay and  Cinderella  in Chesham. Ionica Adriana Media Career Ionica has presented for a number of television and radio stations, including BBC Radio York, BBC Leeds, Yorkshire Cast, BBC Politics, BBC Look North, BBC Leeds and  Countryfile Live. In 2019, she became a judge for the BBC’s second series of  All Together Now  along with comedian Rob Beckett and singer Geri Horner. Her best-known presenting job was fronting BBC Radio 4’s documentary entitled  Ceausescus Children  (2022), which gave her the opportunity to return to Romania and see how children were living in the country today. She also presented the documentary  The Acting Class (2017) alongside actors Maxine Peake and Christopher Eccleston. In 2023, Ionica starred in long-running soap  Coronation Street.  Going into 2024, Ionica will be appearing in  Celebrity Pointless,  as well as hosting season 1 of the podcast CANDID. Whilst she is best known as a presenter on the screen, she has acted in productions, including Paranoid  (2016),  Splitting the Bill  (2018),  The Syndicate  (2021) and  Glaciers  (2022). She has also appeared in feature films  Girls Do Not Dress For Boys  (2015) and  Schadenfreude  (2018). Due to her growing popularity, Ionica has been featured as a writer and interviewee for  Yorkshire Life Magazine, BBC History Revealed Magazine, The Daily Mail, Absolutely Yorkshire,  and Who Do You Think You Are Magazine. Ionica Adriana Corporate speaking  & Hosting Work Ionica is a popular figure at expos and other events such as MOVE IT, the UK’s biggest dance convention, and CYD? (Can You Dance) UK’s touring convention. She hosted the Hospitality Talks Stage at BBC  Countryfile Live in 2019, sang at the closing ceremony of the Newcastle Film Festival and again at the Festival of Remembrance 2018 in York. Ionica has appeared at Carefest on several occasions, where she has spoken about how to live with purpose and practice self-love. Due to her fascinating life story that includes adoption, Ionica is often asked to speak at big events as well as at schools, colleges and graduations, and hosting seminars. Ionica has said that her biggest privilege to date was as a guest speaker (the only Romanian speaker) at Sir Michael Rutter's Memorial at King's College London. Irini Tzo Event Hosts

Irini Tzortzoglou is the wonderfully charming winner of MasterChef 2019.  Throughout the competition, she successfully used a variety of traditional Greek ingredients in dishes which consistently impressed the judges as well as guest chefs such as Raymond Blanc and Michel Roux Jr. In the competition final, her take on classic Greek dishes which she elevated to a new level in her uniquely playful style won over judges, John Torode & Gregg Wallace and she was crowned the popular winner. Call +44 1753 439 289 or email  Great British Speakers now to book Irini Tzo for your next live event or corporate video.   Contact us . Irini Tzo was born in a small village on the island of Crete and was the youngest of three.  Her early memories of life are of a scarcity of luxuries but an abundance of fresh, home-cooked food in a loving home full of people. Treats were rare and usually home-made, delicious and created with produce the family grew, were given or sourced. Being raised in a culturally mixed environment - Irini’s mother originated from Crete and her father from Anatolia – Irini was blessed with different but equally valuable life lessons and principles. Hospitality, responsibility and pride on one side and humility, appreciation and a zest for life on the other. When she was 20, Irini Tzo started working in her uncle’s hotel in Crete where she met her first husband who was English and they moved to London in 1980. Whilst working for the National Greek Bank of Greece she studied for professional qualifications and later completed a History of Art Degree.  Her artistic flair was reflected in the way in which her Masterchef-winning dishes were presented. In 2010, Irini Tzo moved to the small village of Cartmel in Cumbria with her now husband, John, where life could not be more different to London. Cartmel is similar to Crete in that there is a great appreciation of food, cooking and entertainment. The focus is on quality and freshness of produce – themes reminiscent of Irini’s upbringing. Irini Tzo on Masterchef In 2018 Irini decided to enter MasterChef, driven by the hope to inspire both old and young (such as her grandchildren).  She loved every single minute of the competition, including those of fear, anxiety, pressure and the occasional personal disappointment although these were greatly outweighed by the sense of achievement and the joy of having her food appreciated by others. Greek food has always had its fans amongst the millions who have visited the country over the years with appealing strong flavours, the freshness of the ingredients and the simplicity of their preparation.  Irini firmly agrees that the ingredients are king and respects the traditional methods of their treatment, but she has developed a much more refined approach and style of presentation. Irini currently works with potters in both Crete and the UK creating dishes inspired by Minoan pottery and with graphic designers on the creation of fabrics inspired by Greek plant life.   She is very involved in the local community - belonging to the Cartmel in Bloom group and Cartmel Village Society. Irini is available for a range of live events and cooking demonstrations.
